Richard Watts – External Relations Manager & Legal Counsel

Richard Watts works in Sydney in the Policy and Research team. Richard’s responsibilities include in-house legal advice and policy development such as responses to Stronger Super, clearing houses and lost super; the role of default funds within the industrial relations system and external relations and banking policy. Richard also plays a key role in developing analytical tools for members including the modelling frameworks that underpin them.

Richard previously worked at the ACTU where he was the advocate for national wage cases and other significant ACTU initiated test cases before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission and other Industrial Tribunals and Courts. Richard’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Law and a Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. Richard is a practising Solicitor before the Supreme Court of Victoria.
